Letting Life Lead

Blog Topics

This blog is in the infant stage, so it’s ultimate reason for being I do not yet know.  I do, however, have a lot of ideas and opinions I’ll be sharing on the following topics.   Rather like a series.

Fiction:  (search: fiction) I at first had not yet decided if I wanted to share my own fiction, but I changed my mind.  It has been a very long time since I’ve written any stories, and it also makes me nervous.    I began writing something new off the cuff.  You can find the beginning here under a series called:  Writing on the Fly (I plan on finishing to publish so only the first two parts are visible).   And here is the first short piece I submitted to WordPress from my archives:  Check Lists

Mad Crafts:      (Search:  mad craft)  I do not craft every day.  It happens in spurts when I have the ambition, need, or just on a whim.    I crafted for our wedding in 2007, and all of our children’s birthdays, and randomly for no reason–and I took picture evidence.    Of course, me being me, I rarely do novice crafts (quick crafts are in my arsenal, just not as usual).   A big vision pops into my head, and I dive headlong into a project that sometimes takes on a complicated, all consuming, life of it’s own.

Diary of an Inconsistent Cook:  (Search: diary)    I’ve come to a acknowledge to myself that I am not a novice cook.  However, I am the type of person who isn’t afraid to change a recipe, make substitutions, or do something way above my head just because I’m in the mood to drive myself nuts.     Surprisingly enough, in my advancing years of experience, disasters don’t happen nearly as often as they used to.      They still happen though…such as the “burned black sugar English Toffee Bar” cooking experiment of 2015.   I shall not speak of the Pumpkin Soup fiasco of 1999.

DIY and How To Guides:   (search: DIY)  I’m cheap, thrifty.    I also like science.     Do it yourself project and guides are the love children of Science and Frugal.   Who doesn’t love to run experiments and save money at the same time?     I made my own soap once just for kicks!    I can’t guarantee any of these will be as exciting as mixing a soap solution several times a day for three days waiting for it to trace properly because I didn’t have a stick blender at the time.    That’s going to be a hard one to top.

Product Reviews:   (search: product review)  I took a review writing class in college in the early 2000s and I was quite good at it.  Unfortunately, my instructor was about as interesting and supportive as a bathing suit from 1886.    It really turned me off of reviews, and I admit that since then I hadn’t given it a second thought.   Sometime after my 41st birthday, I somehow started writing reviews at Amazon and the writing bug bit me.    It felt so good to feel that spark of the thing I used to love doing so much after so long.   This blog will probably have a lot of reviews on it with links to the products that will give me a link credit whenever you look and buy something even totally unrelated.  Really.  You can read my witty, scathing review of a stupid annoying toy, and end up buying Preparation H and a C-string and I’ll get a credit just for sending you to Amazon.  My reviews will always be honest.  If I truly hate something, that makes for a very long post so be warned.   Who am I kidding?    The only writers longer winded than me are Stephen King and Robert Jordan.

Attachment Parenting and Other Things That Make People Look at You Funny:   (search: parenting | attachment | babies)  I will over time build up articles about attachment parenting, co-sleeping/bedsharing, elimination communication, leave it alone foreskin advocacy, baby led weaning, cuddling babies to sleep, breastfeeding, free ranging your kids in the age of bubble wrap, and whatever other topics that come up that I will stick my two cents in about.   Remember, just when you think you aren’t weird enough a new topic that you never heard of before, but think is fantastic makes you even weirder.  Awesome!       I have an extensive library of just about every book imaginable on these topics–when I had time to read, and got the majority of them when a little Ebay rival called half.com was in its heyday.

Domestics for Haters:  (search: domestic)   This series will be about how to make the drudgery of daily doings less daunting.   If you hate cleaning, and need to get it done fast so that you can do other things welcome to the club.   I hate cleaning.  I hate chores.   I hate laundry.   I hate it so much, that I’d rather torture a clean loving Sim by making them do other things other than clean, or make them watch a slob Sim eat out of their garbage.     The hate runs deep.

Library:   (search: library | books) I have a lot of books.   I will be sharing lists of my favorite books, though not always with reviews or summaries.   Sometimes you should just walk down the library aisle without purpose and pick a book out and see where it takes you without knowing anything about it.    This is how I found one of my favorite non-fiction books The Descent of Woman by Elaine Morgan.   I loved it so much that I joined Amazon.com all those years ago just to have them find a copy (it was out of print) when they were offering that service!  It was one of those books that you pick up that confirms what you’ve been thinking and becomes almost kindred.   When I move they are the first things I pack, and the first things I unpack.   Due to space constraints and the addition of three people I live with every day, I’ve had to part with some of the lesser books to make room.   I also had to stop buying books (except children’s books — particularly ones from my childhood to share with my children) because it can get out of hand!  These days I stick to digital copies, and especially eager to find free classics.

Picture This Picture That:  (search:  picture)   I wouldn’t call myself a photographer by any stretch of the imagination, but occasionally I manage to produce a rather nice snapshot or put together something that amuses.

That’s Totally Random:  (search: random)    Mostly a series about my bizarre YouTube habits and strange interests.

Reblog It:   (search:  reblog)      A way to spread the link-back love when a post catches my eye.   The more you give the more you receive.

Feature:  (search: feature)    There are times when I find a post or post of particular interest or importance to me so I will sticky it to the top of my page for a time.  Thus far the most popular feature is about my cousin who is changing her life by venturing into modeling — and her age and personality will inspire you.

I am a hater of all things related to cleaning too! I blame it on my personality disorder and my creative mind, but others say I am lazy 🙂 Not true! So if you can make it less daunting and FAST, I will be your disciple

It’s not that I’m lazy, it’s just that I don’t want to do it. LOL

I agree! There is a difference between procrastinating because you are lazy, and a clear knowledge of the fact that you just hate doing something

Cute: Domestic for Haters. While cleaning isn’t always the highlight of my life, I have embraced my Domestic Goddess role and I relish in it. 🙂

Actually, with a couple of my friends, if I go to their house, 9 out of 10 times I just start cleaning their kitchens. They tried to make me stop when we first met. They gave up and just handed me towels to dry the dishes. I know, I’m odd. lol

One friend told me once, I knew you were coming, so I just ignored the kitchen because I knew you’d clean it. She was right and I did.
