Letting Life Lead

Password Please

What’s the Password?  Why is there a password?

As long as a story link is restricted it is “not published” and thus I can try to sell it to a magazine, anthology, or e-zine.

My regulars might have noticed that several pieces are now password protected content.   It is all still there, let me explain!

It is time to stop the “I wish I hads” and to start collecting rejections by sending my stories out into The Universe.    Phase one I began in January of 2015 by launching this blog LaissezFaireLife.com.   Phase two was to take whatever time I had and start writing short fiction–not so easy with two kids and a case of avoidance behavior.    I began to submit offerings to an online writing community yeahwrite.me , I have entered the NYCM contest three times, started a novella that morphed into something bigger than I intended, and fizzled (not dead, just hibernating).

I am happy to report that stories get stuck in my head the way they did when I was a kid. The voices in my head bug me now when I’m busy.

I crave to make a living doing what I love and this is why a lot of my fiction is not public on my blog anymore, but password protected.   I miss out on a lot of submissions because many consider blog posts published.   However, as long as the link is restricted it is “not published”.

I have made the password accessible to my followers only via Patreon. Anyone who follows my Patreon page will get the password via a patron-only post.   No monetary pledge required.

Of course, if you want to buy me a beer or Cumberland Farms coffee, I won’t say no.

I want people to read my work and get sucked into it, and I want to collect those rejections, too!   If I send out more often, maybe one or two will stick.

I think this solution will work.  I don’t want to spam your email, but I want to share my stories with you as always.  If I need to change a password or provide special access to contest stories, I can change the post on Patreon easily for you.

Now, I am thinking I should collect a New Yorker rejection.  What do you say?
