Diary of an Inconsistent Cook #24: Best Peanut Butter Cookies (Bakery Style)

It is quite possible that my husband might sell me for a bag of peanut butter cookies one day.     I’m a Chocolate Chip Cookie or Chocolate Mint Cookie lady myself, but the man is just ga-ga over peanut butter.       I have tried an obscene amount of recipes for peanut butter cookies and there were always problems: too dry, too soft, no peanut butter flavor, too flaky, too weird.  I don’t know how you can make a peanut butter cookie taste weird, but that recipe does exist.

Just look at it these babies!

Just look at it these babies!

This is the peanut butter cookie recipe from Woodland Bakery (get the recipe from there).    I know I am beginning to sound like a fan girl, and I swear I am not stalking the woman!   These cookies are good enough that it almost made a cookie convert out of me.  I am still a chocolate chip cookie girl all the way, but these lovelies are a solid number three.   Most definitely they are number one on the husband’s list.  I do believe he said, “Mmmph.”

I am glad I made only half a batch because I am running out of pants that fit.    I put chocolate chips in half the cookies, and the household was divided on which was the best:  purist peanut peanut butter or chocolate chip peanut butter.

Next time I plan I making these with half bread flour just to see how it would be with just a little more chew.

What type of cookie would you sell a family member for?

There are moments when I would sell a family member for cokkies, but I guess no cookie is quite that good. Having said that, there are way too many great, yummy homemade cookie recipes for me to narrow it down to one.

Depends on the family member, but most would go for Jammie Dodgers.

I would sell a certain family member (can’t be too descriptive here) for a slice of stale bread…but the ones I care about a bit more I would sell for peanut butter chocolate chip with Belgian chocolate cream filling. My husband and son are not for sale 😉 the rest are free game

Search for Gretchen bakery on Facebook and Google. She sold her business and cannot use that old name. She is still here, just has to rebuild from scratch. A lot of luck you should have asking on Facebook!
