Nikki stared dumbstruck at the forty-somethings laughing, munching, and oozing on furniture. “Honey!” Her mother gave her a sloppy kiss, “You missed the best chocolate cake ever!”
A melted birthday candle and crumbs were all that remained of Nikki’s special powder mix.
